Event Details

China and India have weathered the global downturn well. They are continuing on their rapid growth path and this year both economies are expected to post GDP growth of around 7%. These are markets no UK company can afford to ignore and opportunities abound across a wide range of sectors. More and more British companies are no longer asking why Asia but where and how do we start?

In this event, we will be looking at how UK companies can exploit these opportunities, with particular focus on protecting intellectual property. Issues addressed will include:

  • Assessing the business case
  • Developing a market entry strategy
  • Collaboration in technology-based projects
  • Intellectual property regimes and protection
  • Cultural aspects of doing business in India & China

Speakers

We have secured two first-rate business speakers:

- Robin Nunley, Principal, Business Development International, has over thirty years’ experience of international business development. For the past twelve years he has worked as a consultant advising companies, both large and small, on the development of entry and business strategies in overseas markets, especially in China and the Far East. He is a visiting lecturer at the Manchester Business School and at Lancaster University Management School.

- Julian Stretch OBE, India Business Director, MLS Chase, a London-based law firm with a strong focus on India. Julian provides advice and support to UK companies entering the Indian market ranging from market entry strategies through help with operational start-up and business development. He is on the board of a Chennai-based manufacturing company and is UK chairman of the High Technology Working Group of the UK/India Joint Economic Trade Committee.
